When deciding if moving out of our beloved urban home in Clinvtonville, that had been in my family for over 50 years, was the right move for our family, it seemed that our 1.5 bathroom situation kept getting more crowded. The kids kept growing (Hadden was a baby when we moved in!) and we adults (mainly me, let’s face it!) wanted our own space (and calmess!). I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be interrupted when I’m getting ready!! We had already started the process of working with an architect and were working on plans to add a two-story addition to the back of the house (additional bedroom, bathroom, closet, and expanding the kitchen on the main floor.) When we were looking at contractors, we realized what we really wanted was more space and by moving to the suburbs, we could get more bang for our buck!

I often check listings in my desired area and late one night happened to expand my desired radius to include a part of Westerville that I hadn’t looked at before. I texted Matt that I found a house that I thought had a lot of potential, but needed a lot of fixing up. AKA- PERFECT for us! We had previously owned 4 other homes (out of state) and had loved the process of making the homes “ours.” Whether by changing the wall coloring, trim coloring, replacing new floors or knocking down walls, we had done it, so our “WestervilleFixerUpper” was the perfect fit for us. Matt owned a construction company in the past, so he is very handy & of course very patient to put up with my quirky ideas! Enjoy these pics of our Urban home and a Before pic of our current home! (No wonder it was on the market for so long– you can barely see the house with all the overgrown landscaping!) We have many things we want to change about the exterior, but for now, I’m content with my SW Blue Peakcock Door, Emteck brushed brass handle and new landscaping!
